Mission It is clear that a working parent making $6 or even $10/hour cannot afford $196 per child per week while paying for rent, food, medical bills, gasoline, utilities and other essential needs. Main Street parents support their families, and our economy, in jobs that are hard to fill because of the level of pay. They work in hospitals, offices, elementary schools, nursing homes, hotels, restaurants, dry cleaners, grocery stores and small businesses. They deserve assistance.

Individuals make donations directly to Main Street, or they make them through other organizations such as the United Way and the Combined Federal Campaign. In addition, Main Street applies for and has been selected as a recipient of United Way grants for Main Street’s Early Start Program. These grants are awarded annually based on criteria established by the United Way.

Corporations support Main Street through direct donations or through special events they sponsor with proceeds going to Main Street. Please see our Partnerships page for a list of our wonderful corporate sponsors. If you are interested in having your company support the hard working lower income working parents in our community, please contact Main Street Executive Director Elizabeth Egan at 703.273.1192.
