Main Street Child Development Center was first established as the Vienna Day Care Center in February 1973.
In July of that year, the Fairfax County Department of Social Services (now the Office for Children) invited the Fairfax
Organization of Christians and Jews United in Service, Inc. (FOCUS) to assume the responsibility for running the Center.
FOCUS changed the name to MSCDC in late 1988, and the Center was incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in April 1989.

Initially located in Fairfax Baptist Church, Main Street relocated to the former Green Acres Elementary School in Fairfax in 2002.
