Mission Elizabeth Egan, Executive Director

Elizabeth Egan is the Executive Director of Main Street Child Development Center. She has a Bachelor's Degree in psychology from St. Frances Xavier University and a graduate degree in education from the University of Ottawa, Canada. She has taken graduate classes in Elementary Education from Boston State and Early Childhood Education courses at George Mason University. She has taught children for ten years, from grades pre-k to third grade in Toronto, Canada and also in Buffalo, New York. She was a Title 1 Reading Teacher in inter-city Boston during court ordered bussing, and the Children with Disabilities Resource Center Teacher in Natick, Massachusetts. Elizabeth then became Director of Burke Presbyterian Pre-school, Burke Virginia for ten years. She is married to her husband Gerry, and has three children, Kathryn, Patrick, and Timothy. Ms. Elizabeth has been at MSCDC since June of 1999. She is an active member of the National Association for the Education of the Young Child, NAEYC, the National Head Start Association and the Association for Childhood Education International, ACEI.
